چکیده

Power Consumption and Competitive Advantage Minimizing power consumption is one of the most critical design goals for portable wireless devices. Heat dissipation due to undesirable power requirements affects product reliability and product life. Most important, and one of the few things the average consumer understands, is the useable time of the device between battery charges. Longer operating time between charges can be a major advantage for manufacturers who achieve significantly lower power consumption than their competitors. However, the need for low power consumption must be traded off against other features and performance, such as the higher data rates needed in the latest wireless devices.

FPGA Implementation of a Hammerstein Based Digital Predistorter for Linearizing RF Power Amplifiers with Memory Effects

Power amplifiers (PAs) are inherently nonlinear elements and digital predistortion is a highly cost-effective approach to linearize them. Although most existing architectures assume that the PA has a memoryless nonlinearity, memory effects of the PAs in many applications ,such as wideband code-division multiple access (WCDMA) or orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM), can no longer b...

A Hysteretic Two-phase Supply Modulator for Envelope Tracking RF Power Amplifiers

In this paper a two-phase supply modulator suitable for envelope tracking power amplifier is presented. The designed supply modulator has the linear assisted switching architecture. Two-phase architecture is used in order to reduce the output switching ripples. The proposed architecture uses hysteretic control instead of pulse width modulation (PWM) which significantly reduces the circuit compl...

An Improvement Method for Reducing Power Amplifiers Memory Effects Based on Complex Gain Predistortion

Efficient RF power amplifiers used in third generation systems require linearization in order to reduce adjacent channel inter-modulation distortion, without sacrificing efficiency. Digital baseband predistortion is a highly cost-effective way to linearize power amplifiers (PAs), but most existing architectures assume that the PA has a memoryless nonlinearity. For wider bandwidth applications s...

A DC-coupled RF Amplifier in CMOS with DC-feedback

A CMOS multistage RF amplifier with DC coupling is presented. A complete optimisation of the various stages is done to maximize the RF gain for a given power budget. To decrease the effects of offsets and tolerances in high gain multistage amplifiers usually (lossy) AC coupling is used. The presented circuit employs DC coupling and DC control circuitry to avoid coupling-induced losses. Compared...
